Dr. Bess Lu
Dr. Bess Lu graduated from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry in 1990 with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree, and her Doctor of Optometry. She was involved in an occupational vision research project before and after she graduated, and maintains a strong personal interest in this area, especially with regard to musicians. She worked at the Vision Institute of Toronto during her residency before returning home to Vancouver. In 1991, she bought her practice in West Vancouver from Drs. Bert and Daphne Jervis. During the earlier years of her career, Dr. Lu has been the chairperson for the Greater Vancouver Optometric Society as well as a mediator for the Mediation Committee for the BC Association of Optometrists. She is currently a director on the board of the West Vancouver Youth Band.
Dr. Susan Lee
Dr. Susan Lee graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 1998 on the Dean’s Honours List. She joined the practice in 2006. She enjoys caring for patients of all ages, from children, to their great-grandparents. Dr. Lee maintains an interest in specialty contact lenses, laser surgery co-management and children’s vision. Outside of work she loves gardening, reading, traveling and walking her two dogs.
Dr. Karen Lo
Dr. Karen Lo studied at the University of British Columbia before attending the University of Waterloo, where she completed her degree for a Doctor of Optometry in 2011 on the Dean’s Honours List. She has also worked with a mission team in Ixtapa, Mexico, where eye care was delivered to over a thousand people in the course of a week. She completed an ocular disease internship at Parkland Health Hospital in Dallas, Texas before returning home to Vancouver. She joined the practice in January 2012.
Lisa joined the practice in 1998. She graduated with honours from Pitman Business College as a Medical Office Assistant in 1996 and became a Certified Optometric Assistant in 2002. Her quick sense of humour has made her a real favourite when she is interacting with patients as she performs pretesting or visual fields. She believes that education is essential to selecting the perfect frame and lenses for a patient’s lifestyle needs.
Trish became an Optometric Assistant in 2006. She has been working at the office since 2003. She is always excited to assist patients in all stages of their eye examination, from booking appointments, pretesting, retinal photography to choosing the perfect frame and lenses. Having a keen interest in fashion, Trish loves checking out all the new frames when they arrive. She is a long term North Shore resident and enjoys walking her border collie along the trails and meeting new faces. Feel free to wave and stop for a chat if you see her!
